Florida Keys for a Wedding
I just returned home from an amazing weekend in the Florida Keys, where we attended a friend's wedding! It was a quick trip as we only went for a long weekend, but definitely felt like we made the most out of our time there. I arrived at Key West Airport Thursday afternoon, which was tiny and easy to get in and out of. Our hotel, The Southernmost Beach Resort, was a quick 10 minuted drive along the coast. I was lucky enough to stay in an ocean view room which I highly recommend. On Friday morning we started the day with a coffee at Frenchie's before strolling down Duval Street to visit Ernest Hemingway's House. Later that evening the welcome party took place at Bagatelle on Key West. The following day we walked up Duval street to Frenchie's for breakfast and then just hung around our hotel. It started down-pouring (which was not in the forecast for the day) so we grabbed a couple piña coladas at the beach cafe to stay dry. It cleared up and turned into a beautiful afternoon, just in time for us to catch the boat over to Sunset Key Cottages, their wedding venue on Sunset Key, a fun 10-minute ride away.
Sunset Key is a small private island full of lovely homes and a beautiful restaurant, Latitudes, which I would love to make a reservation at next time. Their beach wedding was elegantly simple, a vision I aspire to for my own wedding in the future. Every detail came together beautifully, creating an intimate and special atmosphere for all 50ish guests. The love shared by all present was palpable, and it was so much fun getting to spend a couple nights celebrating the happy couple.
